Notice of Approval for Land to be Sold, Otherwise Disposed Of or Modified, Pursuant to Section 5 of the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991

Under the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991, I, Dr Nick Smith, Minister of Conservation, hereby approve the sale of the following parcel of land currently vested in the Grey District Council, being part of the land described in Part C of the Schedule to the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991 under the description “Greymouth Harbour Lands”, and being more particularly described in the following Schedule.

Schedule

Residential land proposed for sale by the Grey District Council, pursuant to the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Act 1982 and the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991.

In terms of section 5(2)(c) of the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991, the approval shall take effect on the date of this notice.

Road Realignment—State Highway 60 Te Mamaku Drive, Tasman District

Pursuant to the Public Works Act 1981, and to a delegation from the Minister for Land Information, Jessica Earnshaw, Land Information New Zealand:

(a) Pursuant to section 114, declares the land described in the First Schedule to this notice to be road which, pursuant to section 88(2) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, becomes road, limited access road and State highway and shall vest in the Crown;

(b) Pursuant to section 20 and to an agreement to that effect having been entered into, declares the land described in the Second Schedule to this notice is acquired for the functioning indirectly of a road (segregation strip) and shall vest in the Crown on the date of publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Notice of Intention to Take Easements for Flood Protection Purposes—Kaeo, Northland, Far North District

Notice is hereby given, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, that the Northland Regional Council proposes to take easements over the land described in the Schedule hereto (“the land”).

The land is required for the construction and maintenance of a flood protection scheme for the Kaeo township.

The flood protection scheme is required because the Kaeo township is subject to frequent damaging flooding from the Kaeo River.

The Northland Regional Council proposes to construct a flood protection scheme that will reduce the risk of flooding to the Kaeo township.

The flood protection scheme comprises stop banks and floodwalls to divert the flow of water from the township and lessen the velocity of flood water flow, thereby reducing the risk to property and life.

A river spillway diversion is also to be constructed to reduce flood risk, and borrow (soil) excavated from the diversion will be used to create stop banks.

The easements over the land are required for works associated with the flood protection scheme and to convey flood waters that may be diverted by the flood protection scheme works.
