Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, full recognition for the New Zealand Engineering Food and Manufacturing Industry Training Organisation Incorporated (trading as Competenz) has been granted for a period of five years, with effect from 1 October 2013 to 1 October 2018, to set standards at Levels 1–8 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework for the plastics industry (defined as the conversion of polymers into end products or componentry for other products, including but not limited to: plastics moulding, extruding, forming, conversion and fabrication processes); glass production, glass processing and glass engineering for glass blowing and bottle manufacturing; paint, ink, resin and adhesives manufacturing; the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector (excluding compounding of medicines in community and hospital pharmacies); wool scouring, yarn making, dyeing and finishing (bulk products/finished material/garments), carpets, knitting and hosiery (continuous fabric/garments); dry cleaning and laundry; apparel manufacture including embroidery and sewn products; and footwear manufacturing industries.
