Electricity Industry Act 2010

Notice of the Electricity Industry Participation (Technology Neutral Language in Frequency Keeping) Code Amendment 2013

  1. Pursuant to section 38(3)(b) of the Electricity Industry Act 2010, the Electricity Authority gives notice of the making of the Electricity Industry Participation (Technology Neutral Language in Frequency Keeping) Code Amendment 2013.

  2. The amendment comes into force on 3 October 2013.

  3. The amendment updates the language used to describe the provision of frequency keeping services, so as to allow ancillary service agents to provide those services through a wider range of technologies.

  4. Copies of the amendment and the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (“Code”) are available on the Electricity Authority’s website at
    www.ea.govt.nz/act-code-regs/code-regs/

  5. Copies of the amendment and the Code may also be inspected free of charge or purchased from the Electricity Authority, Level 7, ASB Bank Tower, 2 Hunter Street, Wellington.

Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to sections 78 and 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) advises that it approved on 26 August 2013, the code of practice HSNOCOP 6 Version 2.0 Flammable Liquids Tank Wagons.

This code of practice has been developed by the EPA and provides a means of compliance with Regulations 3-29, 32-37 and 42 of the Hazardous Substances (Tank Wagons and Transportable Containers) Regulations 2004 for the use of tank wagons for bulk transport of flammable liquids.

Pursuant to section 80(1) of the HSNO Act, this code may be inspected on request at the EPA, Level 10, Grant Thornton House, 215 Lambton Quay, Wellington 6011.

Pursuant to section 80(1)(b) of the HSNO Act, the code is available from the EPA website

Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 21.9 to 21.13 inclusive; 21, Appendices 5 and 6; 40A.7 to 40A.63 inclusive; 40A.70; 40A, Appendices 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.12 – Safe Ship Management Systems – Section 2: Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length which are not required to comply with section 1 – Safe Ship Management System

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13 – Safe Ship Management Systems – Section 2: Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length which are not required to comply with section 1 – Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System
