Notice of the Electricity Industry Participation (Metering Arrangements) Code Amendment 2011, Amendment 2013 (No 3)

Pursuant to section 38(3)(b) of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 ("Act"), the Electricity Authority ("Authority") gives notice of the making of the Electricity Industry Participation (Metering Arrangements) Code Amendment 2011, Amendment 2013 (No 3).
The amendment is made urgently under section 40 of the Act. The amendment comes into force on 29 August 2013.
The amendment amends the requirement to populate the registry with information relating to settlement indicators. It requires the metering equipment provider for an advanced metering infrastructure ("AMI") meter or data storage device to populate the registry to show that:

(a) the cumulative data channel must be included in the trader’s submission information; and

(b) the absolute data channel must not be used.
The Authority considers that it is necessary and desirable to make the amendment urgently because if the amendment comes into force later than 29 August 2013, the added time and expense of switching Advanced Metering Services Limited’s AMI meters before the amendment comes into force will put many customers of Genesis Power Limited at risk of losing the benefit of retail competition.
