Osteopathic Council (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2013

Pursuant to Part 6, sections 130 and 131 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the following notice is given.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Osteopathic Council (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2013.

(2) This notice comes into force on 28 February 2013 and applies to the fees and disciplinary levy payable in respect of applications for the practising year commencing 1 April 2013.

(3) This notice revokes all previous Osteopathic Council fees and disciplinary levy notices.

  1. Fees and disciplinary levy—The Osteopathic Council sets the following fees and disciplinary levy, payable to the council, as specified in the attached Schedule.

  2. Tax—The goods and services tax payable on application fees and levies for annual practising certificates is set out in the attached Schedule. Other fees specified in the Schedule are GST inclusive.

Examination Fees:

  • Stage two written examination: $1,000.00
  • Stage three clinical examination: $3,600.00

Registration and other fees:

  • Assessment of overseas qualifications (stage one): $690.00
  • General registration/re-registration: $690.00
  • Registration in an extended/vocational scope of practice: $172.50
  • Visiting Osteopathic Presenter / Educator: $172.50
  • Inactive registrant’s annual fee: $172.50
  • Processing inactive registrant’s CPD: $172.50
  • Competent Authority Pathway Programme†: $3,600.00
  • Application for review (appeal): $1,150.00

Notice of Scopes of Practice and Related Qualifications Prescribed by the Osteopathic Council

This notice replaces the Notice of Scopes of Practice and Related Qualifications Prescribed by the Osteopathic Council dated the 20th day of October 2011 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 20 October 2011, No. 159, page 4569.

This notice will take effect from 31 January 2013.

Scopes of Practice

Pursuant to section 11(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 ("the Act"), the Osteopathic Council ("the Council") specifies the following scopes of practice:

  1. General Osteopathic Scope of Practice

All registrants currently registered in the Scope of Practice: Osteopath will, from 31 January 2013, become registered in the General Osteopathic Scope of Practice.

Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners. Central to the competent practice of osteopathy is an understanding of the role of the primary care team and referral routes within the primary care team and to hospital based services.
