Airworthiness Directives

Pursuant to section 72I(3A) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, I, Owen Olls, Airworthiness Specialist, acting under a delegation from the Director of Civil Aviation, hereby issue the following airworthiness directives in respect of aircraft or aeronautical products.

These airworthiness directives came into force on:

  • FAA AD 2012-13-11 7 August 2012
  • FAA AD 2012-24-09 14 January 2013
  • EASA AD 2013-0012 29 January 2013
  • EASA AD 2012-0124R1 29 January 2013
  • EASA AD 2013-0015 30 January 2013

These airworthiness directives will come into force on:

  • EASA AD 2013-0019 5 February 2013
  • FAA AD 2012-17-08 27 February 2013

Airworthiness directives may be viewed on the CAA website (www.caa.govt.nz) or at Asteron Centre, Level 15, 55 Featherston Street, Wellington 6011, or on application to the Aircraft Certification Unit, CAA, PO Box 3555, Wellington 6140.

Notice of Exemption From Marine Protection Rules: 122.4(2)(b); 200.26(1)

Pursuant to section 395 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 2 from Marine Protection Rule 122.4(2)(b) – Marine Protection Products – Oil – Oil discharge monitoring and control system and oil filtering equipment – owner must ensure that every ship is fitted with oil filtering equipment that is designed so as to ensure that any oily mixture, which is discharged into the sea after passing through the system, has an oil content not exceeding 15 parts per million

  • 1 from Marine Protection Rule 200.26(1) – Offshore Installations – Discharges – International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate – Requirement for an offshore installation to have an International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate

Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 20.6; 21.13(1)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 21.13(1)(c); 31A.12(2)(c); 31B.15, Table 8; 32.17A(e)(i); 32.9(3); 40A, Appendix 7, Table 2(C), Note (5); 40A, Appendix 7, Table 3(B); 40C.29(2)(e); 40D.11(1); 40D.37(1), Appendix 1.4; 40D.68(1), Appendix 3.3; 42A.37(1)(a); 42B.20(16)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 20.6 – Operating Limits – Assigning operating limits and operating within assigned limits – Owner and master of a ship are required to operate within assigned limits

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) – Safe Ship Management Systems – Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System – ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system

  • 6 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) – Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length are not required to comply with section 1 – entry to and conditions to be met in order to remain in Safe Ship Management System – New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by the Director

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(c) – Safe Ship Management Systems – Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System – compliance with conditions and limitations
