Designated Character of Te Kura o Te Pāroa
(1888) Whakatane
Pursuant to sections 156 of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give notice that Te Kura o Te Pāroa will change from a mainstream school to become a designated character school from 1 April 2013.
The designated character of Te Kura o Te Pāroa is:
- provision of an education environment to cater for each child as an individual and to encourage each child to realise their full potential;
- development of students’ knowledge of Ngāti Awa-tanga and strengthen relationships and connections with whānau, hapū and iwi;
- nurturing of students in mind, body and spirit; and
- development of 21st century learners capable of engaging with local community and the wider world.

Education (National Student Numbers – Authorised Users) Notice 2013
I make the following notice under section 344 of the Education Act 1989.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Education (National Student Numbers – Authorised Users) Notice 2013.
(2) This notice shall take effect on 1 February 2013.
- Use of national student numbers by authorised users
(1) Education providers that are early childhood services as defined in section 120 of the Education Act 1989 are authorised to use national student numbers for the following purposes:
- Monitoring and managing student enrolment and attendance.
- Ensuring early childhood services and students receive appropriate resourcing.
(2) StudyLink, a service line of the Ministry of Social Development,¹ is authorised to use national student numbers for the following purpose:
- Ensuring education providers and students receive appropriate resourcing.

¹Other business units of the Ministry of Social Development do not have authority to access or use national student numbers. The Education (Ministry of Social Development Authorised to Use National Student Numbers) Regulations 2012 made that Ministry an authorised user. Cabinet approved the Regulations on the basis that the national student numbers’ use would be only for StudyLink purposes and that this would be specified in the New Zealand Gazette notice authorising the use.

Cancellation of Designation of Auditing Agency
Pursuant to section 37 of the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Act 2001 (“the Act”), I, Dr Don Mackie, Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Leadership, Protection and Regulation, Ministry of Health, under delegation from the Director-General of Health, cancel the designation of Verification New Zealand Limited to audit the provision of health and disability services under the Act.
This notice takes effect the day after publication.
