Notice of Intention to Take Land for the Purposes of a Road—Elginshire Street, Timaru

Notice is hereby given that the Timaru District Council (“the Council”), under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the interests in the lands described in the Schedule hereto (the “land”), being estates in fee simple.

The land is required for the extension of Elginshire Street, being important to the overall network within the Washdyke industrial area, and more particularly for the purposes of a road.

The reason the Council considers it reasonably necessary to take the interests in the land is that construction of the road on the land to be taken is important to the reduction of pressure on the State highway network by providing an alternative internal link for local traffic.

The owners have been served with notice of the Council’s intention to take the land and has been advised of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to The Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Department of Courts, PO Box 5027, Wellington 6145, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.

Any person requiring further information in respect of this advice should contact the Property Manager, Timaru District Council, PO Box 522, Timaru 7940. Telephone: (03) 687 7279.
