Material Ceasing to Have Legal Effect

Pursuant to section 408 of the Act, I give notice that the following material that is currently incorporated by reference into the following Compliance Documents, ceases to have legal effect from the following dates:

Compliance Document C (Fire Safety)

The following material will cease to have legal effect when Compliance Document C (Fire Safety) is revoked on 10 April 2013:

  • AS 2220.1:1989
  • AS 2220.2:1989
  • AS/NZS 1170.0:2002

  • BS 4790:1996
  • BS 5287:1996
  • BRE Report 186:1990 Design principles for smoke ventilation in enclosed shopping centres. Morgan and Gardner
  • BRE Report 258:1992 Design approaches for smoke control in atrium buildings. Hansell and Morgan
  • NFPA 92B:1995 Guide for smoke management systems in malls, atria and large areas

All other material that is currently incorporated by reference into Compliance Document C will also cease to have legal effect as part of that document when it is revoked. However, such material is incorporated by reference into the new Compliance Documents C/AS1 and C/VM1, C/AS2–CAS/7 and C/VM2, Protection from Fire, from 10 April 2012, as detailed in this notice.

Compliance Document F7 (Warning Systems)

The following material will cease to have legal effect when the transition period for use of the previous version of Compliance Document F7 (prior to its amendment), ie Amendment 7, ends at the close of 9 April 2013:

  • AS 1670.6:1997
  • AS/NZS 1668.1:1998, A1

Compliance Document F8 (Signs)

The following material will cease to have legal effect when the transition period for use of the previous version of Compliance Document F8 (prior to its amendment), ie Amendment 1, ends at the close of 9 July 2012:

  • NZS 4231:1985, A
  • NZS/BS 5252:1976, A1
  • NZS 6742:1971
  • BS 5378.1:1980
