Major Events Management Act 2007

Notice Declaring Clean Zones and Clean Periods for the Volvo Ocean Race Auckland Stopover

Pursuant to section 16(1) of the Major Events Management Act 2007 (“the Act”), the Minister for Economic Development gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Commencement and purpose—This notice, which comes into force on Monday, 5 March 2012, declares the clean zones and clean periods, pursuant to section 16 of the Act, for the Volvo Ocean Race Auckland Stopover.

2. Clean zones and clean periods—(1) The clean zones and clean periods for the Volvo Ocean Race Auckland Stopover are set out in the Schedule to this notice.

(2) The clean zones in the Schedule include the land comprising the street or road which forms a border of the clean zone up to the boundary of any abutting land at the outside edge of the clean zone.

3. Excluded land and buildings—For the avoidance of doubt, the clean zones described in the Schedule do not include any excluded land or buildings as described in section 16(5) of the Act.

Schedule

Clean Zones

1. Viaduct clean zone

The area shown in Map A, including the area bordered by and including:

(a) Brigham Street from the north-eastern-most point of Wynyard Wharf to Jellicoe Street;

(b) Jellicoe Street from Brigham Street to Halsey Street;

(c) Halsey Street from Jellicoe Street to Viaduct Harbour Avenue;

(d) Viaduct Harbour Avenue from Halsey Street to Customs Street West;

(e) Customs Street West from Viaduct Harbour Avenue to Hobson Street;

(f) Hobson Street from Customs Street West to Quay Street;

(g) The western edge of Princess Wharf;

(h) A line from the north-western-most point of Princess Wharf to the north-eastern-most point of Wynyard Wharf.

2. North Head clean zone

The area shown in Map B consisting of the North Head Historic Reserve.

Clean Periods

1. Viaduct clean period

The clean period for the Viaduct clean zone will apply from 8.00am Monday, 5 March 2012 until 11.59pm Monday, 19 March 2012.

2. North Head clean periods

The clean periods for the North Head clean zone will apply:

(a) for the Race Arrivals, from 8.00am Wednesday, 7 March 2012 until 11.59pm on Friday, 9 March 2012;

(b) for the In-Port Race, from 8.00am until 11.59pm on Saturday, 17 March 2012; and

(c) for the Race Restart, from 8.00am until 11.59pm on Sunday, 18 March 2012.
