Straight-chained Lepidopteran Sex Pheromone Group Standard 2012

Pursuant to section 96B(1) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (\"HSNO Act\"), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) gives notice that a Group Standard is issued.

Notice

  1. Title—(1) This notice is the Straight-chained Lepidopteran Sex Pheromone Group Standard 2012 notice.

(2) The HSNO Act Approval Number for the Group Standard is HSR100628.

  1. Purpose—The purpose of the Straight-chained Lepidopteran Sex Pheromone Group Standard 2012 is to allow importation or manufacture for release of a pheromone substance or a pheromone-containing product. The pheromone-containing products are used for sampling populations for estimating insect density (monitoring) or to suppress pest populations or control damage through disrupting the behaviour of pests (direct behavioural control).

  2. Commencement—The Straight-chained Lepidopteran Sex Pheromone Group Standard 2012 comes into force 28 days after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  3. Conditions of Group Standard—The obligations and restrictions set out in Schedule 1 to the Group Standard apply to the substances by way of conditions.

  4. Availability—The full Group Standard, Schedules and any information incorporated by reference may be:

(a) inspected free of charge during normal business hours at the EPA office; or

(b) purchased from EPA; or

(c) viewed at www.epa.govt.nz

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 9 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) – Safe Ship Management Systems – Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System – New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.14(1)(a) & (b), Table 6 – Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) – Non-passenger vessels – Inshore area – Seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 6 for non-passenger vessels operating within the inshore limits set out in Appendix 1 of Part 20

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.15(a), Table 8 – Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) – Non-passenger vessels – Enclosed area – Seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 8 for non-passenger vessels operating within the enclosed area

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 32.22(1)(b)(i)(bb) – Ships’ Personnel – Qualifications – Engineer officer certificates – Marine engineer class 4 – Candidate must provide evidence of 12 months sea service in the last ten years on main propulsion machinery of not less than 250kW on commercial ships or New Zealand warships that are motor ships and that operate outside restricted limits

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 32.22(1)(b)(ii)(cc) – Ships’ Personnel – Qualifications – Engineer officer certificates – Marine engineer class 4 – Candidate must provide evidence of having completed 12 months sea service within the last ten years on vessels operating outside restricted limits

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 32.9(3)(b) – Ships’ Personnel – Qualifications – Combined skipper/engineer certificates – Local launch operator (LLO) – Evidence of having completed not less than one months experience in the area for which the certificate is required within the 12 months immediately preceding the date of the candidate’s application for examination or the certificate holder’s application for endorsement

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 32.30(1) – Ships’ Personnel – Qualifications – Specific ship types – Tankers – Director may endorse an applicant’s certificate of competency with a class 1 tanker endorsement
