Notice of Intention to Take Land for Aerodrome Purposes—Queenstown Lakes District

Notice is hereby given that Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited, under the provisions of section 23(1)(b) of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule hereto (“the land”).

The land described in the Schedule to this notice is required for aerodrome purposes.

The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary to provide for the continued safe and efficient functioning of Queenstown Airport to meet projected passenger and operational growth at Queenstown Airport (“Airport”) and in particular:

(a) to enable the relocation of general aviation and helicopter activities from the south-western area of the Airport to provide for essential growth in airport operations and activities including expansion of the passenger terminal, additional apron areas around the terminal for scheduled aircraft, additional carparking for public, staff and rental vehicles, additional grass and paved apron areas and space for hangars for general aviation and helicopter activities;

(b) to provide for the formation of a Code C taxiway (including appropriate clearances) parallel to and with adequate separation from the main runway 23/05 within Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited’s existing Aerodrome Purposes designation.

Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited has assessed a number of alternative locations for these activities and has identified the land as the most preferable for a number of reasons including reasons of safety and operational efficiency.

The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited’s intention to take their land and advised of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Ministry of Justice, PO Box 5027, Lambton Quay, Wellington 6145, or DX SX11154, Wellington, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
