Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

Approval to Revoke Approved Code of Practice for Load-Lifting Rigging (fourth edition)

Notice is given that the Acting Minister of Labour has approved the revocation of the fourth edition of the Approved Code of Practice for Load-Lifting Rigging pursuant to section 20(1)(b) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has consulted with members of the rigging industry and the public regarding the revocation of this code.

The reason for the revocation is that this edition will be replaced by the fifth edition of the Approved Code of Practice for Load-Lifting Rigging.

The fourth edition of the approved code of practice will be revoked on 21 May 2013.

Approval of Amendments to the Approved Code of Practice for Load–Lifting Rigging (fifth edition)

Notice that the Acting Minister of Labour has approved amendments to a Code of Practice pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

The fifth edition of the Approved Code of Practice for Load-Lifting Rigging sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements, and provides recommendations and procedures for safe practice while carrying out lifting and rigging work in industry.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has consulted widely with members of industry and the public to prepare the amendments to the approved code.

The approved code will come into effect six months after publication of this notice to allow for a transition period.

The commencement date is 21 May 2013.

The approved code will be available from the Ministry by 1 February 2013.
