Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003
Chiropractic Qualification Notice 2012
Pursuant to section 12 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the following notice is given.
Notice

Commencement—This notice comes into force on 10 December 2012.

Revocation—This notice revokes and replaces the previous notice which prescribed qualifications for the Scope of Practice Chiropractor, dated the 13th day of August 2004, and published in a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 15 September 2004, No. 120, page 2898.
Qualifications Prescribed for the Chiropractic Scope of Practice
Pursuant to section 12 of the Act, the following qualifications are prescribed for registration as a chiropractor.
Registration as a chiropractor in New Zealand under the Chiropractic Board Scope of Practice requires either:
- a Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia accredited Chiropractic qualification from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, Auckland; or
- a pass in an examination set by the New Zealand Chiropractic Board for chiropractors trained overseas who have graduated from an institution with accreditation status as recognised by a member body of the Council on Chiropractic Education International; or
- under the provision of the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997, registration by the Chiropractic Board of Australia at the time of application.

Dental Technician and Clinical Dental Technician Disciplinary Levy Notice 2012
Pursuant to sections 131–133 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (the "Act"), the following notice is given.
Notice

Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Dental Technician and Clinical Dental Technician Disciplinary Levy Notice 2012 and shall come into force on 13 December 2012.
(2) This notice has the status of a Regulation for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.
(3) This notice stands alone and the levy is in addition to the fees and levies contained within Oral Health Practitioners (Fees) Notice 2012 (No. 2) notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 30 August 2012, No. 106, page 3092, which remains in force.

Levy—The Dental Council sets the following levy, payable by Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians to the Dental Council, as specified in the attached Schedule.

Tax—The levy is stated exclusive of goods and services tax (GST). The levy is subject to the addition of 15% GST.

Disciplinary Levy Payable

Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians holding an annual practising certificate as at 5 November 2012.

The purpose of the levy is to fund the costs of:
(a) the appointment of and investigations of professional conduct committees; and
(b) the proceedings of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal,
with respect to Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians.
The levy comes into force on 13 December 2012 and is payable to the Dental Council by 20 January 2013.
