  1. Scope of Practice – Osteopaths Using Western Medical Acupuncture and Related Needling Techniques

Pursuant to section 12 of the Act, the Council has prescribed the following qualifications for registration in the Scope of Practice for Osteopaths using Western Medical Acupuncture and Related Needling Techniques.

All applicants must:

(1) hold one of the qualifications prescribed for registration in the Scope of Practice – Osteopath.

and

(2) hold one of the following qualifications:

(a) Post Graduate Certificate in Western Acupuncture, Auckland University of Technology; or

(b) Post Graduate Certificate in Western Medical Acupuncture, University of Hertfordshire (United Kingdom).

or (in addition to paragraph 2(1) above)

(3) if application made before 31 March 2010, satisfy the Council of their competence in the use of acupuncture by:

(a) successfully completing a post-experience course run by Auckland University of Technology (including attending a two-day workshop, a portfolio-based assessment and a clinical competency examination); and

(b) supplying evidence of relevant acupuncture training and experience that, in the opinion of the Council, is, combined with requirement (a), sufficient for registration as an osteopath with the Scope of Practice for Osteopaths using Western Medical Acupuncture and Related Needling Techniques; and

(c) if necessary in the opinion of the Council, completing the theoretical component of the Post Graduate Certificate in Western Acupuncture, Auckland University of Technology.

Amendment to the Osteopathic Council (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2011

Pursuant to sections 130(1)(c) and 132(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Osteopathic Council (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2011, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 3 February 2011, No. 11, page 263, is amended under heading Osteopath Scope of Practice as follows:

By inserting the following text before the sub-heading “Application for registration”:

“Application for an interim practising certificate in the case of:

– an applicant registered under the ANZOC overseas assessment process endorsed by the council 4,600.00

– an applicant registered under the Competent Authority Pathway endorsed by the council 4,600.00

– an applicant who is returning to practise as an osteopath after three or more years of not practising 2,300.00”

By deleting the following text:

“Assessment of overseas candidates for registration (includes $250.00 non-refundable component if an assessment of an applicant does not permit the applicant to proceed to registration) 4,600.00”

Social Workers Registration Board (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2011

Pursuant to sections 108 and 109 of the Social Workers Registration Act 2003, the following notice is given.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Social Workers Registration Board (Fees and Disciplinary Levy) Notice 2011.

(2) This notice comes into force on 1 July 2011 and replaces the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 10 June 2010, No. 64, page 1868.

  1. Fees—The Social Workers Registration Board sets the following fees and disciplinary levies, payable to the board, specified in the attached Schedules.

Schedule One

Tax—The fees are inclusive of goods and services tax.

Application for registration with an overseas qualification and practising in New Zealand 368.00
