[3] Standard 4.5.1 is varied by omitting subclause 5(5), substituting –

(5) Wine, sparkling wine and fortified wine must contain no more than -

(a) 250 mg/L in total of sulphur dioxide in the case of products containing less than 35 g/L of sugars, or 300 mg/L in total of sulphur dioxide in the case of other products; and

(b) 200 mg/L of sorbic acid or potassium sorbate expressed as sorbic acid; and

(c) 1 g/L of soluble chlorides expressed as sodium chloride; and

(d) 2 g/L of soluble sulphates expressed as potassium sulphate; and

(e) 400 mg/L of soluble phosphates expressed as phosphorus; and

(f) 1.5 g/L of volatile acidity excluding sulphur dioxide, expressed as acetic acid; and

(g) 0.1 mg/L of cyanides and complex cyanides expressed as hydrocyanic acid; and

(h) 200 mg/L of added dimethyl dicarbonate.

Medical Council of New Zealand Scopes of Practice and Prescribed Qualifications (Special Purpose Postgraduate Training) Amendment Notice 2011

Pursuant to sections 11(1) and 12(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (“the Act”), the following notice is given.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Medical Council of New Zealand Scopes of Practice and Prescribed Qualifications (Special Purpose Postgraduate Training) Amendment Notice 2011.

(2) This notice comes into effect on 5 May 2011.

(3) This notice should be read in conjunction with the Scopes of Practice and Prescribed Qualifications for the Practice of Medicine in New Zealand, published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 29 January 2010, No. 8, page 253.

  1. Special purpose (postgraduate training) prescribed qualification—Pursuant to section 11 of the Act, the prescribed qualification for the special purpose (postgraduate training) scope of practice is amended by adding the following requirement:

Trainees must have been registered and practising in their home/sponsor country for a minimum of one year immediately prior to their application (excluding Pacific Island graduates, if they had been training in a different Pacific Island health system at the time of their application because recognised medical training programmes are not available in their home/sponsor country).

  1. Special purpose (postgraduate training) scope of practice—Pursuant to section 12 of the Act, the special purpose (postgraduate training) scope of practice is amended by adding the following requirements:

(a) Trainees may not undertake relief runs (excluding postgraduate trainees covered under the policy for cardiothoracic surgical training units).

(b) Trainees must have at least two hours per week protected time for teaching and will be required to attend any relevant tutorials and grand rounds.
