Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Declaration by Minister Extending State of National Emergency

Pursuant to section 71 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, John McGregor Carter, further extend the state of national emergency declared at 10.30am on Wednesday 23 February 2011, which I previously extended at 11.39am on Tuesday 1 March 2011, at 3.15pm on Monday 7 March 2011, at 12.00 midday on Sunday 13 March 2011, and at 10.00am on Saturday 19 March 2011 in Christchurch City owing to the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that occurred on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 12.51pm in Christchurch City, and subsequent significant aftershocks.

The state of national emergency expires with the commencement of the seventh day after the date on which this declaration is made.
