Civil Aviation Act 1990
Notice of Direction to Require Screening
Pursuant to section 77B(1) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, I direct the Aviation Security Service to perform the functions listed in the Schedule hereto, effective from 1 April 2011.
This Direction rescinds and replaces the previous Notice of Direction to Require Screening (SR 2002/310), as notified in the Notice Under the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989 published in the New Zealand Gazette, 26 September 2002, No. 143, page 3780.
Schedule
I direct the Aviation Security Service:
-
in accordance with section 77B(1)(a)(i) and (ii) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, to screen:
∙ all persons intending to travel as a passenger or crew member, and any carry on baggage to be carried, on an aircraft with a maximum certificated passenger* seating capacity of more than ninety seats, being operated as an air transport operation within New Zealand, unless the Director is satisfied that such screening is unnecessary in a particular case.

in accordance with section 77B(1)(b)(i) and (ii) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990 to undertake reasonable searches, if necessary, of:
∙ all persons intending to travel as a passenger or crew member, and any carry on baggage to be carried, on an aircraft with a maximum certificated passenger* seating capacity of more than ninety seats, being operated as an air transport operation within New Zealand, unless the Director is satisfied that such screening is unnecessary in a particular case.
*Maximum certificated passenger seating capacity for the purpose of this Direction means the maximum passenger seating capacity approved by the relevant Type Certificate Data Sheet for a particular aircraft type.
This Direction is available for inspection at the main office of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, and may be downloaded from the CAA website www.caa.govt.nz

Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996
Notice of Approval of Code of Practice
Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”), the Environmental Risk Management Authority of New Zealand advises that it has approved on 4 March 2011, the Code of Practice “Selection of fire doors where flammable liquids are stored and used”.
This code has been developed by the Environmental Risk Management Agency and provides a practical means for doors to comply with the fire resistance rating of buildings.
