Draft Government Energy Strategies Released for Consultation

Pursuant to sections 15(1)(a) and (b) of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000, I hereby give notice I will be releasing the Draft New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy for public consultation at 5.00pm on Thursday 22 July 2010.

The Draft New Zealand Energy Strategy will also be released for public feedback.

Revocation of Notice of Direction to Appoint a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Paparoa School (1077)

The notice of direction to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of Paparoa School (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 7 August 2008, No. 124, page 3235) is hereby revoked under section 78M(7) of the Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.

Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Rutherford School (1478)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Rutherford School Board of Trustees because of the risks to the operation of its school and the welfare of its students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:

  • All functions, powers and duties of the board as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise); and
  • all functions, powers and duties of the board to manage financial operations (whether statutory or otherwise).

A limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

  • Curriculum management including teaching and assessment practice.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students (Revised 2010)

Pursuant to section 238F(5) of the Education Act 1989, I notify the making of a revised Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students dated July 2010 (the revised code).

The revised code revokes and replaces the Revised Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students dated the 11th day of December 2003*, except for clause 3, clause 15.5.1, and the definition of "group students", the revised code will come into force on 1 November 2010.

Clause 3, clause 15.5.1, and the definition of "group students" in the revised code will come into force on 23 July 2010.

The revised code is available free from the Ministry of Education’s website
