Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002—Approval of Pilot Driver’s Courses for Class 1 and Class 2 Load Pilots

Pursuant to subclause 8.5(f) of Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002 (“the Rule”), and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the New Zealand Transport Agency, I, Thomas James Logan, Senior Engineer, hereby approve the courses specified in the Schedule to this notice for the purpose of training and certifying Class 1 and Class 2 pilots referred to in the Rule.

Education Act 1989

Amendment to the Constitution of Victoria University of Wellington’s Council Notice 2009

Pursuant to section 170 of the Education Act 1989 (“the Act”), the Minister for Tertiary Education gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Constitution of Victoria University of Wellington Council Notice 2009.

(2) This will replace the previous constitution established in 1990.*

(3) This notice takes effect from 1 January 2011.

  1. The Victoria University of Wellington Council (“the Council”) shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Four persons appointed by the Minister for Tertiary Education;

(b) The Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington;

(c) Three permanent members of the academic staff of the Victoria University of Wellington (“the University”), one at least of whom shall be a Professor of the University and one at least of whom shall not be a Professor, elected by the permanent members of that staff in accordance with the Victoria University of Wellington Council Elections Statute;

(d) One permanent member of the general staff of the University elected by the permanent members of that staff in accordance with the Victoria University of Wellington Council Elections Statute;

(e) Two persons who are or have been students of the University appointed by the executive for the time being as members of the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association;

(f) One person appointed by the Council after consultation with the central organisation of employers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987;

(g) One person appointed by the Council after consultation with the central organisation of workers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987;

(h) Four persons being members, or entitled to be members, of the Court of Convocation of the University as defined in the Victoria University of Wellington Council Elections Statute to be elected by the Court of Convocation in accordance with that Statute;

(i) Three persons co-opted by the Council.

  1. The term of office of members of the Council, vacation of office, disclosure of interest by members and casual vacancies are covered in sections 173–176 of the Act.

  2. Subject to section 171(7) of the Act, the maximum term for any member, other than the Vice-Chancellor and the student members, shall be five consecutive four-year terms.

  3. The powers of the Council shall not be affected by vacancy in the membership thereof.

Requirements and Exemptions for Investment Plans From 2011 Onwards for Tertiary Education Organisations Notice 2010

Pursuant to sections 159P, 159R, 159T, 159U and 159Y of the Education Act 1989, the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title—This notice may be cited as the Requirements and Exemptions for Investment Plans From 2011 Onwards for Tertiary Education Organisations Notice 2010.

  2. Commencement—This notice applies from the date of its publication.

  3. Application—From the date of its publication, this notice revokes and replaces the Requirements and Exemptions for Plans (Investment Plans) for 2008–2010 for Tertiary Education Organisations Notice 2009*.

  4. Introduction—The TEC may decide to fund tertiary education programmes and activities described in a proposed Investment Plan (“Plan”) submitted by a tertiary education organisation (“organisation”) for a period of up to three years.

  5. The proposed Plan must be a summary-level document. The scale of the proposed Plan will depend on the size and complexity of the submitting organisation.

  6. To be eligible to access funding from the TEC for 2011 and onwards, all organisations, other than those exempted by paragraph 12 of this notice, are required to submit a proposed Plan. Previous allocation of Student Achievement Component (SAC), Tertiary Education Organisation (TEO) Component or other TEC or Government funding does not create an entitlement of future funding at any level from the TEC.
