Appointment to the Commerce Commission

The following appointment has been made to the Commerce Commission, as established under the Commerce Act 1986:

Patrick John Duignan, of Wellington

has been appointed by the Administrator of the Government as a member of the Commerce Commission, pursuant to section 28(1)(b) of the Crown Entities Act 2004 and section 9(2) of the Commerce Act 1986.

The term of appointment commences on 1 June 2010 and expires on 9 June 2014.

Crown Entities Act 2004

Appointment of Member and Chair of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority

I hereby appoint

Roger Anthony Sutton

(a) pursuant to section 28(1)(a) of the Crown Entities Act 2004, as a member of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority established under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000; and

(b) pursuant to clause 1(1) of Schedule 5 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, as chair of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority.

Both appointments are for a term of three years commencing on 2 June 2010 and expiring on 1 June 2013.

Appointment to the Tertiary Education Commission Board

Pursuant to section 159D of the Education Act 1989, and section 28 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, I appoint to the Tertiary Education Commission Board

Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Matangi School (1814)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Matangi School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school and the educational performance of its students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:

  • All functions, powers and duties as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise).
  • All functions, powers and duties of the board in curriculum management including teaching and assessment practice (whether statutory or otherwise).
  • All functions, powers and duties of the board to establish procedures and processes (whether statutory or otherwise) for school wide self review.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

The notice of direction to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of Mairehau High School (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 28 February 2008, No. 41, page 1208) is hereby revoked under section 78M(7) of the Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.

Broadwood Area School (6) Board of Trustees Parent Representatives Election Invalidation Notice

Pursuant to clauses 9(3) and 9(3A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by the Minister of Education, I hereby declare invalid the election for the parent representatives for the Broadwood Area School Board of Trustees held on 24 May 2010, require a new election to be held on 6 August 2010 and declare that the trustees who held office on 7 May 2010
