(d) The number of poultry that will be subject to shechita will not exceed the number necessary to meet the needs, within New Zealand, of the local Jewish community and kosher observant visitors to New Zealand. The Auckland Hebrew Congregation or the Wellington Jewish Community Centre acknowledge that present consumption is no more than 5,000 birds per year. The Minister and the Auckland Hebrew Congregation and the Wellington Jewish Community Centre will from time to time discuss the number of poultry required to meet the needs of the local Jewish community and kosher observant visitors to New Zealand.

(e) The neck of any bird must be inspected immediately after the cutting of the throat to ensure that both carotid arteries are completely severed.

Revocation of the Declaration of Approval of the Animal Welfare Institute of New Zealand as an Approved Organisation Under the Animal Welfare Act 1999 (Notice No. 1703)

I hereby give notice that, pursuant to section 123(1)(a)(i) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, the notice for the Declaration of Approval of the Animal Welfare Institute of New Zealand (Inc) as an Approved Organisation, as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 18 January 2001, No. 6, page 116, is revoked.

This notice takes effect 28 days after it is published in the New Zealand Gazette.

Customs and Excise Act 1996

Customs and Excise (Rules of Origin for New Zealand–Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership Goods) Amendment Regulations 2010

Pursuant to section 287D of the Customs and Excise Act 1996, notice is hereby given of the making of Regulations under the Customs and Excise Act 1996.

  1. Title—These Regulations are the Customs and Excise (Rules of Origin for New Zealand-Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership Agreement Goods) Amendment Regulations 2010.

  2. Commencement—These Regulations were made on 22 November 2010 and shall come into force on 1 January 2011.

  3. Effect of Regulations—(1) These Regulations prescribe rules of origin for imports of goods from Hong Kong, China in order to give effect to the agreement done at Hong Kong on 29 March 2010.

(2) The following provisions of this agreement are incorporated in the Customs and Excise (Rules of Origin for New Zealand-Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership Agreement Goods) Amendment Regulations 2010:

(a) Chapter 4;

(b) Annex 5 (which is Annex 1 to Chapter 4);

(c) The letter from the New Zealand Customs Service to the Trade and Industry Department of Hong Kong, China dated on the 22nd day of September 2010;

(d) The Annex (including its Appendix) to the letter described in paragraph (c); and

(e) The letter from the Trade and Industry Department of Hong Kong, China dated on the 21st day of October 2010.

  1. Availability—A copy of these provisions can be viewed at the New Zealand Customs Service website www.customs.govt.nz or ordered by mail from New Zealand Customs Service, PO Box 2218, Wellington.

  2. Status of Order—This Order is a Regulation for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.

Removal of Members From the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority

Pursuant to section 36 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, the Minister of Energy and Resources has removed

Alastair Patrick, of Wellington, appointed on 21 June 2005

Joel Cayford, of Auckland, appointed on 6 August 2008

as members from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority Board as established under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000.

Both removals take effect on 6 December 2010.

Pursuant to section 28(1)(a) of the Crown Entities Act 2004, the Minister of Energy and Resources has appointed the following members to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority Board as established under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000:

Andrew John Pearce, of Christchurch reappointed as a member; and appointed as deputy chair (pursuant to clause 1(1) of Schedule 5 of the Crown Entities Act 2004) for two years; and

Terrence Adrian Currie, of Rotorua, appointed for three years;

Mervyn Gerard English, of Wellington, appointed for three years;
