Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

Consultation on Approved Codes of Practice

Notice is given that the Minister of Labour has given approval to consult on her behalf to the Secretary of Labour on amendments to the following Approved Codes of Practice pursuant to section 20(3) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992:

1. Approved Code of Practice for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial Lift Trucks (Forklifts) (“Forklift Code”).
2. Approved Code of Practice for Load-Lifting Rigging (“Rigging Code”).

A number of proposed changes to the guidance material have been suggested for the Forklift Code. Accordingly, input and feedback on the Approved Code is being sought.

The Rigging Code applies to all places of work where employers and employees use rigging practices in the course of their duties.

Amendments have been proposed to correct data and reflect advances in safe rigging practice.

Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed codes.

“On 10th of August 2010 I, The Honourable Simon William English, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Crown, gave an indemnity to the New Zealand Railways Corporation (trading as KiwiRail Group) (‘KiwiRail’) for any reasonable direct expenses incurred by KiwiRail in relation to the proposed procurement of new Electric Multiple Units for the Auckland region (the ‘EMU procurement’), such expenses to include any negative foreign exchange hedging settlements.
