Centred around coordinate 1315000mE, 4850000mN. Defined generally as being bounded by the coastline from Clutha River/Mata-Au in the north to Mataura River at Fortrose in the south. The inland boundary includes headwaters and catchments of rivers and streams in the area that flows to the coast, and includes Catlins Conservation Park. "The Catlins" is a locally used recorded name now formalised as the official geographic name with a bounded extent.

Public Works Act 1981

Notice of Intention to Take Land for Railway Purposes—Waikanae, Kapiti Coast District

Notice is hereby given that New Zealand Railways Corporation ("KiwiRail"), under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land") for railway purposes.

It is intended to use the land for double tracking and electrification of a section of the North Island Main Trunk Railway between McKays Crossing and Waikanae as part of the Wellington Region Rail Programme (WRRP).

The intended taking is considered necessary because the existing rail corridor is too narrow at this point to accommodate proposed construction works and must be widened.

The owners of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of KiwiRail’s intention to take the land and have been advised of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, PO Box 5027, Wellington 6145, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires.

Each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.

Notice of Intention to Take Land for the Functioning Indirectly of a Road—Ruakura Road, Hamilton City

Notice is hereby given that the Hamilton City Council, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land").

The land described in the Schedule to this notice is required for construction of the intersection improvements at Ruakura Road in Hamilton.

The project is required to improve the safety and efficiency of Ruakura Road and its intersection with Te Aroha Street and Peachgrove Road, and to provide a safe and free flowing transport corridor that forms part of an integrated and efficient city transport network in accordance with the objectives set out in the Hamilton City Proposed District Plan and Hamilton’s Transport Strategy (Access Hamilton).

The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of Hamilton City Council’s intention to take the land, and their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, PO Box 7147, Wellesley Street, Auckland 1141, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
