Land Transport Act 1998

Notification of Ordinary Rules

Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998,
notification is hereby given of the making of 11 Rules that
amend Land Transport Rules.

The following amendment Rules will come into force on
7 May 2009:

  • Land Transport Rule:

– Heavy-vehicle Brakes Amendment 2009 (Rule
32015/2)

– Operator Licensing Amendment 2009 (Rule 81001/2)

– Passenger Service Vehicles Amendment 2009 (Rule
31001/4)

– Seatbelts and Seatbelt Anchorages Amendment 2009
(Rule 32011/2)

– Tyres and Wheels Amendment 2009 (Rule 32013/4)

– Vehicle Dimensions and Mass Amendment 2009 (Rule
41001/4)

– Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Amendment 2009 (Rule
33001/3)

– Vehicle Lighting Amendment 2009 (Rule 32005/4)

– Vehicle Standards Compliance Amendment (No 2)
2009 (Rule 35001/6)

– Work Time and Logbooks Amendment 2009 (Rule
62001/1)

  • Land Transport Rule: Operator Safety Rating
    Amendment 2009 (Rule 81002/1) will be brought into
    force by notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

The amendment Rules clarify current requirements, better
align New Zealand requirements with overseas standards,
amend procedural requirements to accord with industry
needs or practices, make requirements more flexible
(without diminishing safety standards), make consequential
changes required as a result of changes to other land
transport legislation (including Rules) and make other minor
changes to Rules.

The Rules are available for inspection, free of charge, at the
National Office of the NZ Transport Agency, PSIS House,
20 Ballance Street, Wellington, and for purchase from
selected bookshops that sell legislation.

Wickliffe Limited, PO Box 932, Dunedin or telephone

Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle

Brakes 2002

Approval of Brake Testing Device

Pursuant to subclause 4.6(1) of Land Transport Rule:
Light-vehicle Brakes 2002 (“the Rule”), and pursuant to
the powers delegated to me by the New Zealand Transport
Agency, I, Bruce Hamilton Currie, Senior Vehicle Engineer,
hereby approve the brake testing device specified in the
Schedule of this notice for the purpose of measuring
brake forces of vehicles to establish compliance with the
requirements for light-vehicle brakes contained in the Rule.

Schedule: The brake testing device to be approved

Make: Platetronic.

Models: Pitstop 2P and PitStop 4P.
