Notice of the Making of Rules Under Section 288 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996

Pursuant to section 288(6) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996, notice is hereby given of the making of the Customs (Import Entry) Amendment Rules 2009, which shall come into force on the 28th day after the date of this notice.

Copies of these rules are available for inspection on the Customs Service website (www.customs.govt.nz) or at any of the following Customs offices:

Auckland – The Customhouse, 50 Anzac Avenue, Auckland City.

Christchurch – The Customhouse, 6 Orchard Road, Christchurch Airport.

Dunedin – The Customhouse, 32 Portsmouth Drive.

Wellington – The Customhouse, 17–21 Whitmore Street.

Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Notice of Initiation: Review of Anti-dumping Duty Applying to Imports of Reinforcing Steel Bar and Coil From Thailand

Pursuant to section 14(8) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, and acting under delegated authority from the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development, I have initiated a review of the imposition of anti-dumping duty in respect of the goods described in the Schedule to this notice (“the goods”).

This initiation follows the receipt of an application made by the New Zealand industry providing positive evidence justifying the need for a review.

Anti-dumping duty was imposed on the goods following a determination made on 5 March 2004.

Notice of this final determination was published in the New Zealand Gazette, 11 March 2004, No. 26, page 610.

Reinforcing steel bar and coil with a diameter equal to or greater than 5mm and less than or equal to 40mm.

The goods are currently classified under Tariff Item 7213.10.90 and Statistical Keys 01E and 09L, Tariff Item 7213.91.90 and Statistical Keys 01J, 05A and 09D, Tariff Item 7213.99.90 and Statistical Keys 01E, 05H and 09L, Tariff Item 7214.20.90 and Statistical Keys 01G and 05K, Tariff Item 7214.99.90 and Statistical Keys 01C, 03K, 11L, 13G and 21H, Tariff Item 7227.90.00 and Statistical Key 19H, Tariff Item 7228.30.00 and Statistical Key 19D, Tariff Item 7228.50.00 and Statistical Key 19A and Tariff Item 7228.60.00 and Statistical Key 19E of the Tariff of New Zealand, which classifications are provided for convenience and Customs purposes only, the written description being dispositive.
