Notice of Intention to Apply for Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority gives notice that the Environmental Risk Management Agency intends to apply for approval of the Code of Practice for Below Ground Petroleum Stationary Container Systems.

This code has been developed by the Environmental Risk Management Agency and sets out a means of compliance with the requirements of clauses 33(a), 73(3)(a)(iii), 73(3)(b)(iii) and 86 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 (as amended) in respect of stationary container systems that are installed below ground.

Notice of Exemption from Maritime Rules: 21.13(1)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 31A.8(3); 31A.15(1); 31C.9(a); 32; 40; 40A.33(2)(e); 40A.56(1); 40C.29(2)(e); 40C Appendix 1, 1.4(a), (b) and (c); 46.17(1)(a) and 47.60(c)(i)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) – re Safe Ship Management Systems – entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) – re Safe Ship Management Systems – entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.8(3) – re crewing and watchkeeping unlimited, offshore and coastal (non-fishing vessels) – minimum safe crewing document
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.15(1) – re crewing and watchkeeping unlimited, offshore and coastal (non-fishing vessels) – tankers – valid class 1 tanker endorsement
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31C.9(a) – re crewing and watchkeeping fishing vessels – operating areas – unlimited area
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 32 – re ships personnel – qualifications
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40 – re design, construction and equipment – passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.33(2)(e) – re design, construction and equipment – passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships – petrol inboard and outboard engines
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) – re design, construction and equipment – passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships – life saving appliances
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.29(2)(e) – re design, construction and equipment – non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – machinery – petrol inboard and outboard engines
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C, Appendix 1, 1.4(a), (b) and (c) – re design, construction and equipment – passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships – tugs – towing requirements
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) – surveys, certification and maintenance – ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length – inspections
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 47.60(c)(i) – load lines – ships of less than 24 metres in length – compliance with section 2 – valid New Zealand Load Line certificate issued

Agriculture Industry Training Organisation Incorporated

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, full recognition for the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation Incorporated has been granted for a further period of five years, with effect from 22 June 2009 to 22 June 2014, to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the agricultural, rural servicing and water industries, including the pastoral (except equine), arable, deer, goat, pork and poultry, apiculture, shearing, wool classing, wool handling, wool wholesaling, farm pest control, farm produce and supplies wholesaling, fencing, aerial agrichemical applications, rural health and safety; supply, treatment and disposal of water and wastewater including reticulation, small water systems, irrigation and water quality industries; and the care, handling and nursing of companion, production and laboratory animals that includes technical veterinary
