Notice of Proposals to Assign or Alter or Discontinue Place Names

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("the Act"), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of various proposals to either assign new place names or alter existing place names or discontinue a place name.

The proposed new or altered place names are specified in the first column of Schedule 1 below.

The proposed discontinued place name is specified in the first column of Schedule 2.

The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered or discontinued place name relates to, is set out in the second column of Schedules 1 and 2.

The description of each proposed new or altered or discontinued place name is set out in the third column of Schedules 1 and 2.

Submissions on proposed new or altered or discontinued place names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145. Facsimile: (04) 460 0112. Email: nzgbsubmissions@linz.govt.nz

In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to, and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.

The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of Schedules 1 and 2.

Stonefields Suburb Located at the site of an old quarry and an ancient Polynesian garden. Situated between the suburbs of St Johns, Tamaki, Panmure, Mt Wellington, and Ellerslie, in Auckland. Bounded generally by Lunn Avenue at south, Ngahue Drive at west, College Road at north and Mount Wellington (hill) at east. The small new development is proposed to be densely populated, with a school, town centre, shops, restaurants, parks and links with public transport. Topo50 map BA32 – Auckland, GR 640 160.
