Land Transport Act 1998
Notification of Ordinary Rule
Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Tyres and Wheels Amendment (No 2) 2009 (Rule 32013/5).
This amendment Rule makes changes to Land Transport Rule: Tyres and Wheels 2001 (Rule 32013) (“the Rule”), which applies to tyres and wheels and their assembly with hubs and axles, on all motor vehicles and pedal cycles.
The Rule specifies requirements with which a vehicle must comply for certification purposes and that apply throughout the vehicle’s on-road life.
The aim of the amendment Rule is to prohibit the mixing of winter tyres and traditional summer tyres on the same vehicle, and to make other changes that will aid compliance and remove requirements that are no longer considered necessary.
Land Transport Rule: Tyres and Wheels Amendment (No 2) 2009 comes into force on 1 April 2010.
It is available for inspection free of charge at the National Office of the New Zealand Transport Agency, PSIS House, 20 Ballance Street, Wellington.
