Explanation
This exemption applies to vehicles that have a gross laden weight of 3500kg to 6000kg. Land Transport New Zealand will make a copy of this notice available on its website.
An exemption from logbooks is not an exemption from work-time limits.

Driving Hours Logbook Exemptions
Pursuant to section 30ZA(1)(b) of the Land Transport Act 1998, and pursuant to an authority delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport, I, Jennifer Gail McIlroy, Manager Operational Development and Monitoring, hereby exempt drivers of the vehicles specified below from the requirement to maintain a logbook.
This exemption applies to drivers of heavy motor vehicles that require a Class 1 or 2 driver licence and are used to carry goods for hire or reward when the vehicle is:
- operated only within a 50 kilometre radius of the vehicle operator’s usual business location; or
- driven within a 50 kilometre radius from a base of operations.
This exemption expires on 1 July 2009.
Note: “usual business location” and “base of operations” are terms defined in Part 2 of Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks 2007.
Notification of Ordinary Rule
Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is hereby given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Heavy Vehicles Amendment 2008 (Rule 31002/3).
This Rule, which comes into force on 28 April 2008, was consulted on as part of Land Transport Rule: Omnibus Amendment 2007.
The objective of this amendment Rule is to make minor changes to Land Transport Rule: Heavy Vehicles 2004 relating to safety requirements and standards for vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 3500kg.
The amendment Rule is available for inspection free of charge at the National Office of Land Transport New Zealand, 7 Waterloo Quay, Wellington, and for purchase from April 2008 at selected bookshops that sell legislation.
Copies of most Rules are also available direct from Wickliffe Limited, PO Box 932, Dunedin, or telephone (06) 358 8231.

Notice of Intention to Take Land for Road—
State Highway 6 (Gladstone Road), Intersection Improvements, Nelson Land District
Notice is hereby given that the Crown, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule to this notice.
The land is required for road to widen three intersections of State Highway 6 (Gladstone Road) with local roads and allow installation of traffic lights to improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion in central Richmond.
The owners of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the Crown’s intention to take their land and advised of their right to object.
Any person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Department for Courts, PO Box 2069, Christchurch, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be heard with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
