Announcement of Offshore Northland and Raukumara Petroleum Block Offers

Pursuant to section 24 of the Crown Minerals Act 1991, the Minister of Energy and Resources invites bids for petroleum exploration permits in New Zealand’s Offshore Northland and Raukumara Basins.

The closing date for receipt of bids for both Offshore Northland and Offshore Raukumara Block Offers is 28 January 2010.

Data Packs containing geological reports, seismic and other data are available free of charge.

Before preparing and submitting a bid, bidders are encouraged to familiarise themselves with New Zealand’s legislation, regulation and policy for the allocation and administration of petroleum permits, contained primarily in the Crown Minerals Act 1991, the Crown Minerals (Petroleum) Regulations 2007 and the Minerals Programme for Petroleum 2005.

Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Notice of Initiation: Review of Countervailing Duty Applying to Imports of Canned Peaches from the European Union

Pursuant to section 14(8) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, and acting under delegated authority from the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development, I have initiated a review of the imposition of countervailing duty in respect of the goods described in the Schedule to this notice (the goods).

This initiation follows the receipt of an application made by the New Zealand industry providing positive evidence justifying the need for a review.

Countervailing duty was imposed on the goods following a determination made on 9 January 1998.

The current rate of duty on the goods results from a reassessment of the duty on 15 December 2003, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 18 December 2003, No. 173, page 4763.

Description of Goods

Peaches (halves, slices and pieces) packed in retail sized cans.

The goods are classified under Tariff Item and Statistical Key 2008.70.09.00L of the Tariff of New Zealand, which classification is provided for convenience and Customs purposes only, the written description being dispositive.
