Therefore I, Catherine Joy Taylor, Director of Maritime
New Zealand hereby declare as follows:
The Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Order 1992
shall not apply in respect of the following ships:
● Toyshop
● Zella
● Wakatere
● Sirius
while involved in the 2008 Tornado Catamarans, RS:X
Boards Class and Laser Radial World Championships, in
the protected area designated “Area 2 – Hauraki Gulf”.
Provided that this declaration shall only apply for the period
10 January 2008 to 29 March 2008 and the above-named
vessels comply with all terms set out in the agreements
entered into between Telecom and Takapuna Boating Club
dated the 17th day of December 2007.

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment Under
the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection
Act 1996
Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport
Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those
powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and
Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to Maritime New Zealand by
an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime
Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand did delegate
those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables
and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of
Maritime New Zealand by an instrument of delegation
dated 17 January 2008.
Therefore I, Catherine Joy Taylor, Director of Maritime
New Zealand, hereby approve the following equipment to be

approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes
of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996.

This notice comes into effect on 30 January 2008.

Manager, West Coast Conservancy of the Department of

Declaring Land to be Held for Conservation
Purposes, Declaration That the Area Become a
Reserve and Vesting of the Reserve in the
Queenstown Lakes District Council
Under the Conservation Act 1987, the Conservator for the
Otago Conservancy of the Department of Conservation
declares that the land described in the Schedule is held
for conservation purposes and further declares that the
conservation area be set apart as a reserve, subject to
the Reserves Act 1977, and classified as a recreation reserve
subject to the provisions of the latter Act and further vests
the reserve in the Queenstown Lakes District Council in
trust for that purpose.
