Commodity Levies (Meat) Order 2004
Notification of Levy Rates on Meat
Pursuant to clause 14 of the Commodity Levies (Meat) Order 2004, notice is hereby given that for the 12 months from 1 October 2008, the rates of meat levies (exclusive of GST) and bases of calculation shall remain as:
(a) Sheepmeat levy – all sheep slaughtered $0.40 per head;
(b) Goatmeat levy – all goats slaughtered $0.55 per head; and
(c) Beef levy – all cattle slaughtered (including beef cattle and dairy cattle but excluding bobby calves) $3.60 per head.

Notification of Levy Rates on Wool
Pursuant to clause 13 of the Commodity Levies (Wool) Order 2004, notice is hereby given that, for the 12 months from 1 October 2008, the rates of wool levies (exclusive of GST) and bases of calculation shall remain as:
(a) for shorn wool, 5.25 cents per kilogram of wool sold, processed or exported; and
(b) for wool on sheep at slaughter, 5.25 cents per kilogram of assessed wool pull; and
(c) for dags, 2 cents per kilogram of dags sold.

Amendment to Fees in Relation to Quota Management Systems—European Union Sheepmeat and Goatmeat Tariff Rate Quota, European Union High Quality Beef Tariff Rate Quota and United States Beef and Veal Tariff Rate Quota
The New Zealand Meat Board has reviewed its existing quota management fee structure for the European Union (“EU”) Sheepmeat and Goatmeat Tariff Rate Quota (“TRQ”), EU High Quality Beef TRQ and United Stated (“US”) Beef and Veal TRQ and has determined that participation fees payable in respect of these quotas be amended pursuant to section 36 of the Meat Board Act 2004.
The amendments to existing quota management fees are set out below, and will apply to applications for the 2009 Quota Year for the EU Sheepmeat and Goatmeat TRQ and the US Beef and Veal TRQ, and to applications for the 2009/10 Quota Year for the EU High Quality Beef TRQ:

All other existing quota management fees remain unaffected.
For the 2009 EU Sheepmeat and Goatmeat TRQ and US Beef and Veal TRQ:
(a) Applications for General Quota Allowance Allocations, together with fixed participation fee, are due by 15 October 2008;
(b) Variable participation fees for New Entrant and General Quota Holders will be notified by the Board following the annual allocation of TRQ Allowances and are due by 31 December 2008.
The EU Sheepmeat and Goatmeat TRQ applies to 227,854 tonnes carcass weight equivalent and the tariff rate for “in quota” imports is zero.
The US Beef and Veal TRQ applies to 213,402 tonnes product weight and the tariff rate for “in quota” imports is $US0.044 per kilogram on most beef products.
