Declaration That Land is a Reserve—Waikari Village Green, Princes Street, Waikari

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Hurunui District Council hereby gives notice that the following resolution was passed by the council on 26 June 2008:

“That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, the Hurunui District Council hereby resolves that the parcel of land held by Council in fee simple and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same is hereby declared to be local purpose (recreation) reserve within the meaning of the said Act.”

Cancellation of the Vesting in the South Wairarapa District Council of a Reserve

Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Acting Conservator for the Wellington Conservancy of the Department of Conservation cancels the vesting in the South Wairarapa District Council of the reserve for a landing place and site for public buildings described in the Schedule.

Public Notice of Application That Land or Interest in Land Be No Longer Subject to Resumption

Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975

This notice concerns land at 7 Pokaka Street, Akatarawa, Upper Hutt, and Māori claims under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.

The land at 7 Pokaka Street is described in legal terms as Lot 1 DP 74886.

The land was once owned by the Crown. It was transferred to a State enterprise under the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986.

There is a special notice or “memorial” on the certificate of title for the land which provides that, if the Waitangi Tribunal so recommends, the land shall be resumed by the Crown and returned to Māori ownership (see sections 27A and 27B of the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986).

The current owners of the land, BRENT PAUL STANYON and GINA LEE STANYON, have applied to the Waitangi Tribunal to have this memorial removed.

The application has been made under section 8D of the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.

ANY MĀORI PERSON WHO CONSIDERS THAT THEY, OR ANY GROUP TO WHICH THEY BELONG, HAS A CLAIM TO MAKE TO THE WAITANGI TRIBUNAL ABOUT THIS LAND SHOULD SUBMIT THEIR CLAIM TO THE TRIBUNAL BEFORE 26 NOVEMBER 2008.

Section 6 of the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975 sets out the grounds for making a claim.

Claims may be posted to the Registrar, Waitangi Tribunal, PO Box 5022 or DX SP 22525, Wellington, or delivered to the Registrar, Waitangi Tribunal, Level 2, 141 The Terrace, Wellington.

The following claims have already been submitted to the tribunal and may relate to this land:

  • Wai 624 Kemp Hunia Trust claim

  • Wai 740 Flora, Fauna, Water, Air and Soils claim
  • Wai 1468 Hutt Valley and Miramar Peninsular Lands claim

If no claim about this land is made to the Waitangi Tribunal before 26 November 2008, the tribunal may recommend that the land be no longer subject to resumption by the Crown and returned to Māori.
