Revocation of Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Kutarere School (1786)

The notice of direction to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of Kutarere School (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 November 2007, No. 123, page 3234) is hereby revoked under section 78M(7) of the Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.

Regulations 1998

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12(1)(d)(i) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 26 April 1999, which was granted under those Regulations to Mandy Fryer in respect of Mukukai Te Kohanga Reo (64011) (9D056), situated at Main Road, Ohau.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12(1)(d)(ii) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 1 January 2007, which was granted under those Regulations to Carey Morris in respect of Pirinoa Playcentre (60008), situated at Lake Ferry Road, Featherston.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12(1)(ii) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 10 April 2008, which was granted under those Regulations to Gaylene Williams in respect of Tadpole Creche (60380), situated at the corner of Blenheim and Brown Streets, Upper Hutt.

Member’s Bill

Call for Nominations for the Waste Advisory Board

The Waste Minimisation Bill currently before Parliament provides for the establishment of a Waste Advisory Board.

The Minister for the Environment is seeking nominations for members of the Waste Advisory Board.

The board will not be appointed unless the Waste Minimisation Bill is enacted by Parliament.

However, the Minister would like to start the process of calling for nominations for potential appointments.

If the Waste Minimisation Bill is enacted, the role of the board will be to provide advice, upon request, to the Secretary for the Environment and the Minister.

The board’s advice is to relate to waste minimisation and functions of the Minister and the Secretary for the Environment under the Bill.

Collectively, the board needs to have knowledge, skills and experience relating to:

• the Waste Minimisation Bill;
• matters that are likely to come before the board as a result of its proposed functions under the Bill, such as regulations relating to priority products and the waste disposal levy, decisions on priority products and accreditation of product stewardship schemes;
• community projects for waste minimisation;
• industry (including the commercial waste industry);
• local government; and
• tikanga Māori.

Board members will ideally have leadership, governance and senior decision-making experience.

It is highly desirable that board members have previous experience working on a board.

In addition, it is desirable that board members have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Product stewardship.
• The New Zealand Waste Strategy.
• Product life-cycle analysis.
• Scientific or technical expertise in the environmental harm of waste from end-of-life products.
• Major waste streams in New Zealand.
• International best practice in waste minimisation.

Please forward nominations to the address below.

In a cover letter, please outline the reasons for the nomination and a summary of any relevant knowledge, skills and experience of the nominee.

Please also indicate whether the nominee has agreed to their nomination.

Please attach the nominee’s CV and a list of three referees, indicating whether or not referees can be contacted without further notice.

All nominations will be forwarded to the Minister for the Environment for consideration.

Nominations close at 5.00pm on 7 September 2008.
