Notice of Intention to Apply for Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority gives notice that Fuel Storage Systems intends to apply for the approval of amendments to the Code of Practice for the Design and Construction of Above Ground Stationary Rotationally Moulded Tanks to EN13341 for Automotive Diesel Fuel Storage and Dispensing.

This code specifies requirements for polyethylene above-ground vertical cylindrical stationary tanks which store diesel.

Under clause 8(2)(h) of Schedule 8 to the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004, above-ground stationary tanks for hazardous liquids must be designed and constructed in accordance with one of the Standards listed in paragraphs 8(2)(a)–(g) of that Schedule or a code of practice approved by the Authority under section 79 of the Act.
