Declaration by Chief Electoral Officer That Russel William Norman is Elected a Member of Parliament

WHEREAS—

A. I have received a warrant from Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, to supply a member of Parliament to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Nándor Steven Tánczos, pursuant to section 55(1)(f) of the Electoral Act 1993;

B. Under section 137(2) of the Electoral Act 1993, I have determined that of the unelected candidates on the party list of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, Michael Grahame Ward stood highest in the order of preference on that list;

C. Under section 137(3) of that Act, I have asked the Secretary of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand whether Michael Grahame Ward remains a member of that party and I have been informed that he remains a member of that party;

D. Under section 137(4) of that Act, I have asked Michael Grahame Ward whether he is willing to be a member of Parliament, and he has indicated that he is not willing to be a member of Parliament;

E. Under section 137(5) of that Act, I have identified that of the unelected candidates on the party list of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, Catherine Delahunty stood the next highest in the order of preference on that list;

F. Under section 137(3) of that Act, I have asked the Secretary of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand whether Catherine Delahunty remains a member of that party and I have been informed that she remains a member of that party;

G. Under section 137(4) of that Act, I have asked Catherine Delahunty whether she is willing to be a member of Parliament, and she has indicated that she is not willing to be a member of Parliament.

H. Under section 137(5) of that Act, I have identified that of the unelected candidates on the party list of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, Russel William Norman stood the next highest in the order of preference on that list;

I. Under section 137(3) of that Act, I have asked the Secretary of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand whether Russel William Norman remains a member of that party and I have been informed that he remains a member of that party;

J. Under section 137(4) of that Act, I have asked Russel William Norman whether he is willing to be a member of Parliament, and he has indicated that he is willing to be a member of Parliament.

THEREFORE, pursuant to section 137(5) of that Act, I, Robert Andrew Peden, Chief Electoral Officer, declare that

is elected as a member of Parliament by publication of this declaration as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette.
