$3.38 per leviable importation (inclusive of GST).
The levy is calculated on the basis of dividing:

(a) the estimated annual costs incurred by the Ministry;
by

(b) the estimated total number of annual leviable importations that:

(i) are required to be entered under section 39 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996; or

(ii) are deemed to have been entered under Regulation 23 of the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996.

The annual costs incurred by the Ministry means:

(a) the costs of electronic import documentation screening, including related information technology development and maintenance costs;

(b) the costs of biosecurity risk assessment of imported goods;

(c) the costs of clearing goods not requiring further action by the Ministry;

(d) the costs incurred by the director-general in administering the levy; and

(e) the costs incurred by the chief executive in collecting the levy.

Biosecurity (Shipping Container Levy) Order 2006
(Notice No. 1605)

The levy is imposed on all shipping containers imported into and landed in New Zealand.

Under Regulation 11(2) of the Biosecurity (Shipping Container Levy) Order 2006, the Director-General hereby notifies its levy for the 2007–2008 levy year.

The biosecurity shipping container levy for the levy year commencing 1 July 2007 and ending 30 June 2008 has been set at:

$16.00 (inclusive of GST) per shipping container that contains goods; and

$7.00 (inclusive of GST) per empty shipping container.

The levy is calculated on the basis of dividing:

(a) the estimated annual costs incurred by the Ministry; by

(b) the estimated number of shipping containers that are imported into and landed annually in New Zealand.

The annual costs incurred by the Ministry means the costs incurred in implementing and administrating import health standards, to the extent that the standards apply to shipping containers.

Notice of Variation to Appointment of KiwiSaver Default Provider—KiwiSaver Default Provider (Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited) Amendment Notice 2007

Pursuant to sub-sections 180(1)(d) and 180(2) of the KiwiSaver Act 2006, notice is given of a variation to the instrument of appointment appointing Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited as a KiwiSaver default provider.

Pursuant to clause 10 of the KiwiSaver Default Provider (Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited) Notice 2007, the Minister of Finance and Minister of Commerce jointly give the following notice.

1. Title—(1) This is the KiwiSaver Default Provider (Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited) Amendment Notice 2007.

(2) In this notice, the KiwiSaver Default Provider (Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited) Notice 2007, dated at Wellington on 2 April 2007, is called the "principal notice".

2. Commencement—This notice comes into force on the day after the date on which it is published in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. Schedule 2 of the principal notice amended—Schedule 2 of the principal notice is amended by omitting the words "Mercer KiwiSaver Portfolio" and substituting the words "Mercer KiwiSaver Conservative".
