Environmental Risk Management Authority

Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority advises that it has approved a Code of Practice for Pipework Marking for Class 3.1 Flammable Liquid Fuels in Storage Depots.

This code is intended to provide a means of compliance with the requirements of clause 79(2)(b) of Schedule 8 to the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 (as amended).

This code can be inspected at the Wellington office of ERMA New Zealand, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, and is available from the ERMA New Zealand website:

Notification of Maritime Rules

Comments are invited on the following proposed maritime rule developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994:

Part 42B – Maritime (Portable Fire Extinguisher) Amendment Rules

Comments should be made by 7 August 2007.

Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003 (Rule 54001)

Transit New Zealand Act 1989

Amendment to Transit New Zealand Bylaw 2005/7* Maximum Speeds of Vehicles on State Highways

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989 and clause 2.6 of the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003 (Rule 54001), Transit New Zealand hereby amends the following bylaw.

Amendments

  1. These amendments shall come into force 28 days after publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. The Transit New Zealand (Maximum Speeds of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 2005/7* is hereby amended by:

    (a) Replacing line 439 in Schedule 3 to read:

    "Transit NZ Region: 9
    SH No.: 1
    Locality: Paekakariki
    From (RP): 1023/9.48 To (RP): 1023/10.30
    Distance from nearest Road/Feature:
    From 1.26km north of Beach Road to 450m north of Beach Road.
    Speed Restriction (km/h): 80
    New Zealand Gazette Reference: 14/06/2007, No 64, p1694"

    (b) Insert line 439(a) in Schedule 3 to read:

    "Transit NZ Region: 9
    SH No.: 1
    Locality: Paekakariki
