Education (National Student Numbers) Notice 2007

I make the following notice under section 344 of the Education Act 1989:

Notice

1 Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Education (National Student Numbers) Notice 2007.

(2) This notice shall take effect on the day after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Assigning national student numbers—Every post-compulsory education student index number assigned to a student in accordance with the Post-Compulsory Education Unique Identifier Code 2001 is a national student number assigned by the Secretary under section 343 of the Education Act 1989.

3. Use of national student numbers by authorised users except schools—(1) The following classes of authorised users are authorised to use national student numbers for the purposes specified in subclause 2 of this clause:

● Education providers that are tertiary education organisations being organisations as defined in section 159B(1) of the Education Act 1989.
● The Ministry of Education.
● The New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
● The Tertiary Education Commission.

(2) The classes of authorised user listed in subclause (1) of this clause may use national student numbers only for one or more of the following purposes:

● Monitoring and ensuring student enrolment and attendance.
● Ensuring education providers and students receive appropriate resourcing.
● Statistical purposes.
● Research purposes.
● Ensuring that students’ educational records are accurately maintained.

4. Use of national student numbers by schools—(1) Education providers that are registered schools as defined in section 2 of the Education Act 1989 are authorised to use national student numbers only for the following purposes:

● Ensuring that students’ educational records are accurately maintained by:
– administering the National Certificate of Educational Achievement.
– participating in the pilot project for the e-asTTle assessment tool where the school has been selected for the pilot project.

Revocation of Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Nga Uri a Maui (1672)

The notice of direction to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Nga Uri a Maui (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 3 July 2003, No. 76, page 2017) is hereby revoked under section 78M(7) of the Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.

Notice of Dissolution of the Board of Trustees of Hatea-A-Rangi School (2706) and Appointment of a Commissioner

Pursuant to section 78N(3) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby dissolve the board of trustees of Hatea-A-Rangi School and appoint

as commissioner to replace that board.

All functions, powers and duties of the board of Hatea-A-Rangi School are vested in the commissioner.

Notice of Dissolution of the Board of Trustees of Mangamahu School (2391) and Appointment of a Commissioner

Pursuant to section 78N(3) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby dissolve the board of trustees of Mangamahu School and appoint

Bay of Islands College (8) Board of Trustees Parent Representative Election Invalidation Notice

Pursuant to clauses 9(3) and (3A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by the Minister of Education, I hereby declare invalid the election for the parent representatives for the Bay of Islands College Board of Trustees held on 29 March 2007, require a new election to be held on 8 May 2007, and declare that the trustees holding office on 29 March 2007 remain in office until the close of the day before the day when the new trustees takes office.

This notice takes effect on the day of notification.
