Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority advises that it has approved a Code of Practice for Design and Construction of Above Ground Stationary Rotationally Moulded Tanks for Automotive Diesel Storage and Dispensing incorporating EN13341.

This code is intended to provide a means of compliance with the regulatory requirements of clauses 8(2) and 77(b) of Schedule 8 and clause 33(1)(b) of Schedule 10 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004.

This code can be inspected at the Wellington office of ERMA New Zealand, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, and is available for purchase from Fuel Storage Systems Limited, PO Box 115, Ashburton.

Notice of Intention to Apply for Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority gives notice of the intention to apply for the approval of the Code of Practice UL296 Standard for Oil Burners.

This code specifies requirements for oil burners intended for firing appliances and devices such as boilers, central floor, wall and special furnaces; storage tank water, air and direct fired air heater units; and ovens.

Under clause 68(4) of Schedule 8 to the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004, oil burners must comply with one of the Standards listed in paragraphs 68(4)(a)–(be) or a code of practice approved by the Authority under section 79 of the Act.
