Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances
and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk
Management Authority advises that it approved, on
13 February 2007, the Code of Practice for Hazardous
Substances Storage.

This code is intended to assist persons in charge, approved
handlers and other people who store hazardous substances,
to meet the segregation requirements of the Hazardous
Substances (Classes 1 to 5 Controls) Regulations 2001.

This code can be inspected at the Wellington office of
ERMA New Zealand, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse
Quay, Wellington, and will be able to be purchased from the
New Zealand Chemical Industry Council, PO Box 5069,
Wellington.

Land Transport New Zealand

Land Transport Act 1998

Land Transport Rules

In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport Act
1998, Land Transport New Zealand, on behalf of the
Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s
intention to make a Rule that proposes to amend Land
Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment 2004 (Rule 32017)
(the Vehicle Equipment Rule), and advises that draft
Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment Amendment
[2007] (Rule 32017/2) is available for public comment.

The main reasons for amending the Vehicle Equipment
Rule are to bring the existing objective noise test within the
warrant of fitness (WoF) and certificate of fitness (CoF)
testing regime, and to review the decibel limits for exhaust
noise.

A copy of draft Land Transport Rule: Vehicle
Equipment Amendment [2007] may be obtained by
calling the Land Transport New Zealand Help Desk
on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the Land
Transport New Zealand website at:
www.landtransport.govt.nz/consultation/vehicle-equipment

The draft Rule is also available for viewing at Land
Transport New Zealand’s regional offices.

A copy has been made available to groups and individuals
who have registered an interest in the Rule.

Submissions on draft Land Transport Rule: Vehicle
Equipment Amendment [2007] close on 19 April 2007.

Tertiary Education Commission

Industry Training Act 1992

Notice of Amendment and Extension of Coverage
for Forest Industry Training and Education
Council of New Zealand

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, an
amendment has been granted to clarify industry coverage
for the Forest Industry Training and Education Council of
New Zealand Incorporated as the Industry Training
Organisation to set standards at Levels 1–10 on the National
Qualifications Framework to the forest industries (forest
establishment, silviculture, harvesting, solid wood
processing, wood panel manufacturing and pulp and paper),
credit management and control industries, and the
biosecurity (border quarantine) industry covering Ministry
of Agriculture and Forestry Service staff engaged in border
quarantine activities including international cargo
clearances, international vessel clearances, international
aircraft clearances and international mail clearances; and an
extension of coverage has also been granted to include
Levels 1–8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the
furniture industries (wooden and upholstered furniture,
furniture finishing (polishing), bedding manufacture and
metal furniture).
