Biosecurity Act 1993

Notice Permitting Certain Actions in Relation to Double Flowering Forms of Calluna vulgaris for Purposes of Sections 52 and 53 of the Biosecurity Act 1993 (Notice No. 1578)

Pursuant to sections 52(d) and 53(2) and (3) of the Biosecurity Act 1993, I give notice that I permit double flowering forms of the organism Calluna vulgaris to be:

(a) knowingly communicated, caused to be communicated, released, or caused to be released, or otherwise spread;

(b) in a place where organisms are offered for sale or exhibited;

(c) sold or offered for sale; and

(d) propagated, bred, or multiplied or otherwise associated with actions likely to encourage or cause the propagation, breeding, or multiplication

on the following conditions:

  1. Plants are only to be sold when in flower.

  2. The chief technical officer may initiate monitoring of the facilities at any reasonable time, in order to ensure conditions are being met.

  3. The conditions of this permission may be amended if circumstances change or if new information becomes available.

  4. The chief technical officer may revoke this permission by notice in writing if the terms of this permit are breached.

This permission only applies to double flowering forms of Calluna vulgaris.

All other forms of Calluna vulgaris are still subject to sections 52 and 53 of the Biosecurity Act 1993.

The permission given by this notice is given for the purposes of sections 52 and 53 of the Biosecurity Act 1993 only, and does not constitute an exemption from the requirements of any other relevant legislation.

Education Act 1989

Whangaparaoa School (2084) – Designation as a Designated Character School

Pursuant to sections 154A and 156 of the Education Act 1989, I hereby declare that Whangaparaoa School will become a designated character school effective from 23 April 2007.

The school will continue to provide for students from Year 1 to Year 8.

Notice

  1. Aims, purposes and objectives of Whangaparaoa School—Together with the use of te reo Māori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of the school:

    (i) to produce excellent competency in te reo and Mātauranga Māori, derived primarily from the iwi of Te Whanau-a-Apanui;

    (ii) to contribute and enhance the well-being of their whānau, hapū and iwi;

    (iii) to build a kura based on both the Mātauranga and tikanga of the tangata whenua; and

    (iv) to provide an educational environment that promotes the educational vision, goals, objectives, management and self-determination of the tangata whenua of Whangaparaoa.

  2. Constitution of the Board of Trustees—The present Board of Trustees and Principal of Whangaparaoa School shall remain as Board of Trustees and Principal of Whangaparaoa School.

Pursuant to section 146 of the Education Act 1989, I hereby establish a Year 1–6 primary school to be known as City North School, at Borman Road, Northeast Hamilton.

The school will open for instruction in term one of 2008.
