Matthies Creek

Stream flowing generally northerly from Bald Hill, and into Whakapohai River, west of Lake Moeraki, topographic maps 260-F36 & G36 Paringa, and 260-F37 Haast, source on 260-F37: GR 056 076, confluence on 260-F36 & G36: GR 081 125. Spelling alteration from Mathias Creek.


Westland/Otago Land Districts

Mount Clark

Mountain at height 2450m, located on the Southern Alps/Kā Tiritiri o te Moana, between the Landsborough and Hopkins Rivers, topographic map 260-H37 Tasman, GR 558 011. Spelling alteration from Mount Clarke.


New Zealand Undersea Feature Names to be Removed

Norman Rocks

47°43.17′S Latitude, 178°57.10′E Longitude. Formerly underwater rocks, 6.5km north-west of the Bounty Islands. Recorded as Norman Rocks on earlier charts but the feature no longer exists. Hydrographic Chart NZ 3111. Norman Rocks removed from the latest chart.

Rosario Rock

47°48.96′S Latitude, 178°58.50′E Longitude. Formerly underwater rock, 7.5km south-west of the Bounty Islands. Recorded as Rosario Rock on earlier charts but the feature no longer exists. Hydrographic Chart NZ 3111. Rosario Rock removed from the latest chart.

Notice of Final Decisions to Assign or Alter Place Names

Pursuant to section 15 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the final decisions of the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign new or altered place names, stated in the first column of the Schedule below, to the places described in the second column of the said Schedule, and that such decisions take effect on 13 December 2007.

North Auckland Land District

Mosig Stream

Stream flowing generally northerly into Waitakere River, topographic map 260-Q11 & Pt R11 Waitakere, source: GR 433 792, confluence: GR 437 805. Spelling alteration from Mosac Stream (replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 13 July 1989, No. 120, page 3005).

Smyth Stream

Stream flowing generally south-westerly from Long Road Track into Anawhata Stream, northern Waitakere Ranges, topographic map 260-Q11 & Pt R11 Waitakere, source: GR 445 765, confluence: GR 436 756. Spelling alteration from Smythe Stream (replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 13 July 1989, No. 120, page 3005).

Smyth Ridge

Ridge extending generally easterly from above Wahirua Bay to Smyth Corner, northern Waitakere Ranges, topographic map 260-Q11 & Pt R11 Waitakere, start: GR 397 760, end: GR 441 771. Spelling alteration from Smythe Ridge.

Smyth Corner

Hill at height 337m, located in the northern Waitakere Ranges, topographic map 260-Q11 & Pt R11 Waitakere, GR 441 770. Spelling alteration from Smythe Corner.


Wellington Land District

Whitireia/Mount Couper

Hill at height 104m, with beaconed trig station "A2G5, Mt Cooper" at its summit, located north of Porirua, topographic map 260-R26 & Pt R25 Paraparaumu, NZMG coordinate 2664500E, 6010700N. Restoring the original Māori name and altering the spelling from Mount Cooper.


Westland Land District

Zurbriggen Col

Pass at height 2260m, located in the Fritz Range, north of Mount Anderegg, topographic map 260-G35, H35 & H34 Franz Josef/Waiau, GR 815 425. Spelling alteration from Zubriggen Col.


Canterbury Land District

Beuzenberg Peak

Peak at height 2070m, located in the Two Thumb Range above Stag Saddle, topographic map 260-I36 Godley, GR 233 186. Not named on current map.


Otago Land District

Thomson Creek

Stream flowing generally south-easterly from the locality of Mount Cargill, through the suburb of Sawyers Bay, and into McDermids Creek, topographic map 260-I44 & J44 Dunedin, source: GR 214 869, confluence: GR 237 851. Not named on current map.
