manager for the board of trustees of St Joseph’s School,
Taihape (as published in the New Zealand Gazette,
23 November 2006, No. 147, page 4253), is hereby revoked
under section 78M(7) of the Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its
publication.

Change of Class of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Oparure (1865), King Country

Pursuant to section 153(1)(b) of the Education Act 1989,
I hereby declare that Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Oparure,
(1865) will become a Years 1–13 composite school on
27 January 2009 and cease to be a Years 1–8 primary school
on that day.

This change of class is to be phased in over four years.
For the year 2009, the school will enrol Years 1–10 students.
As from 2010, the school will enrol Years 1–11 students.
As from 2011, the school will enrol Years 1–12 students.
As from 2012, the school will enrol Years 1–13 students.

Hapuku School (3369) – Designation as a Designated Character School

Pursuant to sections 146A and 156 of the Education Act
1989, I hereby give the following notice that Hapuku School

will change from a mainstream school to become a designated
character school from 28 January 2008.

The Designated Character of Hapuku School

1. Provision of an educational environment that promotes a
   bicultural educational vision and the goals, objectives and
   rangatiratanga of Ngā Uri o Mangamaunu o Ngai Tahu.

2. Development of the next generation of caretakers of
   traditions and aspirations of Ngā Uri o Mangamaunu.

3. Maintenance of cultural practices consistent with Ngai
   Tahutanga.

4. Enhancement of the wellbeing of Ranginui and
   Papatūānuku, their whānau, hapū and iwi.

5. Development within the tamariki of a consciousness of
   their connection to Te Taiao and their individual and
   collective responsibility to ensuring that this connection
   remains intact.

6. Teaching and learning is based on the mātauranga and
   tikanga of Ngā Uri o Mangamaunu o Ngai Tahu.
