Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku Establishment

Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku Establishment.

  2. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  3. I hereby establish in Waiuku a full primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku and designate the school as a Kura Kaupapa Māori.

  4. The school will operate in accordance with Te Aho Matua.

  5. The special characteristics of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku include that it commits totally to the guiding principles outlined in Te Aho Matua, that:

● the paramount purpose of the kura is the needs of tamariki and their learning;

● all tamariki enjoy an education, which respects their tino rangatiratanga, dignity, rights and individuality;

● we undertake to educate our tamariki through te reo Māori total immersion as a medium of instruction;

● our tamariki develop a sensitivity and respect for all others;

● this education challenges them to reach their full potential in the pursuit excellence.\n
6. Constitution of the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku shall comprise:

(a) five people appointed by the Minister;

(b) the principal, or principal designate;

(c) not more than four people co-opted by the board.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The school will become operational on 1 October 2006. The present kura teina, Te Whānau o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Waiuku, will cease to exist from that date.

Notice of Dissolution of the Board of Trustees of Kimi Ora Community School (2746) and Appointment of a Commissioner

Pursuant to section 78N (3) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby dissolve the board of trustees of Kimi Ora Community School and appoint

Kevin Brown

as commissioner to replace that board.

All functions, powers and duties of the board of Kimi Ora Community School are vested in the commissioner.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975

Supplementary Integration Agreement

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

St Mary’s Catholic School, Rotorua.

The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on 22 June 2006.

A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the local office of the Ministry of Education, Level Four, 1144 Pukaki Street, Rotorua.
