Conservation

Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978

Application to Export Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Director-General of Conservation notifies that an application was received from Wendi Roe, Dr Padraig Duignan and Aurelie Castinel on 2 May 2006 to:

  • export 31 skin tissue samples from New Zealand sea lion pups (Phocarctos hookeri) to the Institute of Zoology, England, for the purpose of immune response research.

All samples were collected during a Department of Conservation research programme on the Auckland Islands in the past three years.

Any person wishing to make a submission on this application can do so by writing to the Manager, Marine Conservation Unit, within 28 days after publication of this notice.

Unless a person making a submission states to the contrary in the submission, that person will be deemed to give his/her consent to the release under the Official Information Act 1982 of all of the information in the submission.

Application to Export Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Director-General of Conservation notifies that an application was received from Karen A. Stockin, Massey University, on 27 May 2006 to:

  • export 32 teeth of common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) to the Sea Mammal Research Unit, University of St Andrews, United Kingdom, for the purpose of age structure research.

Reappointment of Temporary Safeguard Authorities

Pursuant to section 3 of the Temporary Safeguard Authorities Act 1987, Lianne Dalziel, Minister of Commerce, has been pleased to reappoint

William Neil Plimmer, of Wellington

to be Temporary Safeguard Authorities for a period of three years commencing 11 June 2006.

Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975

John McGlashan College (Attendance Dues) Notice 2006

Pursuant to section 36 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, the Minister of Education hereby gives notice approving the charging of attendance dues at John McGlashan College, Dunedin.

Notice

  1. This notice shall be cited as the John McGlashan College (Attendance Dues) Notice 2006.

  2. The proprietor of the above-named school may enter into an agreement with parents or other persons accepting responsibility for the education of a child at the above-named school requiring them to pay attendance dues.

  3. The attendance dues payable in respect of any pupil shall be $1,422.27 (exclusive of G.S.T.) per annum, per pupil.

  4. Attendance dues received by the proprietor shall be used for the purposes of paying for such improvements to, or for such capital works associated with, the buildings and associated facilities of the above-mentioned integrated school as may be required or approved by the Minister of Education, pursuant to section 40 (2) of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, or for meeting debts, mortgages, liens, or other charges associated with any of the land and buildings that constitute the integrated school.
