Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of St Joseph’s School (2237), Opunake

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of St Joseph’s School because of the risks to the operation of the school.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:

• All functions, powers and duties of the board as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise);
• all functions, powers and duties of the board to manage communications and relationships within the school, and between the school and its community (whether statutory or otherwise); and
• board organisation and management.

A limited statutory manager may also advise the board on the following:

• Curriculum self review; and

Amendment of Notice of Direction to Appoint a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Te Aute College (232) and Revocation of Notice of Direction to Appoint a Second Limited Statutory Manager

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I hereby amend the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 12 June 2003, No. 65, page 1764, which was further amended in the New Zealand Gazette, 2 October 2003, No. 139, page 3721, and revoke the notice of direction to appoint a second limited statutory manager (finance) because of the risks to the operation of the school, the welfare and the educational performance of its students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are vested in a remaining limited statutory manager:

• All functions, powers and duties of the board as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise);
• all functions, powers and duties of the board to manage the health and safety of students in both the college and the hostel (whether statutory or otherwise).

A limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

• Curriculum management; and

• consolidation of all new and improved systems into board management practice.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on 13 December 2006.
