Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997

Notice of Application to Register a Trade Name Product (Notice No. 1570)

Pursuant to section 14 (1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997, the Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry hereby gives notice that the following application has been made to register a trade name product under section 9 (1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997:

Trade Name: Fen-IverQuantel

Active Ingredients and Concentrations:

• Ivermectin 4g/kg
• Praziquantel 50g/kg
• Fenbendazole 200g/kg

General Use Claims:

For control of the important internal parasites of horses. These include small strongyles (redworms); the adult and arterial stages of the large redworm; lungworms; bots and tapeworms.

Controls ivermectin sensitive parasites, including nematode strains resistant to benzimidazole (BZ) – based wormers.

Controls fenbendazole sensitive parasites, including nematode strains resistant to macrocyclic lactone (ML) – based wormers.

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general, under section 17 of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997, concerning any application notified above.

Such submissions:

(a) must state in full the reasons for making the submission;

(b) may state any decision sought on that application;

(c) must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette; and

(d) should be forwarded to the address given below.

A copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant for their information.

Notice of Approved Identification Systems for Bovine Tuberculosis Control (Notice No. 1571)

Pursuant to section 50 (5) of the Biosecurity Act 1993,
I give notice that the following approved identification systems may be used to comply with the Biosecurity (Animal Identification Systems) Regulations 1999, with respect to the identification of deer and cattle for the purpose of controlling bovine tuberculosis:

1. Animal Health Board Identification System administered by the Animal Health Board Incorporated, approved by Barry O’Neil, Chief Technical Officer, on 13 May 1999.
