RAB (return on investment)

  • I = maximum statutory income tax rate applying to corporate entities
  • BV = book value
  • ODV = optimised deprival valuation
  • RAB = return on investment
  • ROF = return on funds
  • ROE = return on equity

The formula for calculating RAB is:

RAB = [BV + \frac{(ODV - BV) \times (1 - I)}{(1 + average\ cost\ of\ debt)} ]

Where:

RAB = Regulatory Asset Base

Note: Subscript '1' = end of current financial year; Subscript '0' = end of previous financial year; ave = average; bv = book value; odv = optimised deprival valuation; ROE = return on equity; ROF = return on funds.
